A perfect staycation at Swiss Mountain Escape.
My wife and I were looking for a staycation break for a few days in November to grab some mountain air and do some hiking. On a friend’s recommendation we booked the apartment in Les Crosets for a few days and it was perfect for our needs.
We were lucky with the weather – days of warm sun, so warm that we hiked in
t-shirts and then there was a day of snow which lit up the landscape. The mountains and forests in the area are stunning and easy to navigate.
The owner Jan was delightful and keen to help us with all our needs, nothing was too much trouble. She provided an ample breakfast which we enjoyed in the sun on the balcony. There was a wide choice of food on offer including salami, cheese, eggs, fruit muesli and croissants. On another occasion we were supplied with a picnic lunch for our hikes. In the evening we were welcomed to a delicious hot meal prepared by Jan and once we self-catered in the well equipped kitchen. The apartment was comfortable, spotlessly clean with disinfectant spray and toiletries available. We had a wonderful time. It was a short trip and we would certainly return for a longer stay.
Ski in and out in Les Crosets
I knew as soon as I turned off the main road in Val d’Illiez I was on the way to somewhere special. Snow was falling, covering the ground in a white, fluffy, winter blanket and the mountains were beckoning. Les Crosets has the advantage of being the highest village in the Porte du Soleil on the Swiss side which means not only does it have fabulous views across to the Dents du Midi, but also access to the ski slopes is on the doorstep. Jan’s pretty, alpine apartment is easy to find as you enter the village and whilst it is tempting to spend time enjoying the sun and the views from the balcony there is no time to waste.
Once you’ve got your skis strapped on in the morning you’re off! After, of course, you have enjoyed a delicious breakfast - selection of fruit and cereals, eggs anyway and freshly baked bread from the village shop.
The ski area is extensive and in addition to slopes for every ability there are restaurants to suit every taste.
A completely unexpected first for me was to ski at night with lights on. Just as I thought another fabulous day was over, and we stopped for a wind-down glüwein on the way home - night skiing ! So off we went for another 3 hours ……
A great place to stay and to enjoy this fabulous ski area. Jan is a wonderful host and knows the area like the back of her hand. I look forward to a return visit in the summer to explore the many hiking routes.

Highly recommended- truly a perfect Swiss Mountain Escape!
We had the most wonderful stay over New Year in this lovely Swiss Chalet flat, a chic mix of modern and traditional, cosy and comfortable, with absolutely stunning views from the balcony of the majestic Dents du Midi. A great location if you are looking for a real escape from the hustle and bustle, both in winter for skiing and in summer for the most amazing hiking.
What made our stay truly special though was the wonderful hostess - nothing was too much trouble to ensure we had the most relaxing time. Even after all the fabulous festivities of New Year’s Eve, we had an early start and there was a perfect breakfast (eggs, warm pastries, fresh fruit, the works!) waiting for us. Jan is also very knowledgeable about the region and all its delights - not only about the best places to ski and hike, but also the best places to eat and drink! This means you can really get the inside track and make the most of your stay.

A stay with Jan in Les Crosets is nothing short of idyllic.
The apartment is stylish, comfortable, well-equipped and immaculately presented. The views over the mountains are stunning and constantly changing. A morning coffee or evening aperitif on the balcony is a holiday highlight! The apartment offers easy access to the vast range of skiing that is Portes du Soleil – from the party atmosphere and lofty runs of Avoriaz, to the peaceful ‘there’s no one else out here’, forest pistes at low levels in Champery. Jan is the perfect hostess – we cannot recommend the Swiss Mountain Escape highly enough!

Les Crosets is a beautiful place to visit in summer,
as well as the winter season.
We spent a wonderful week in Les Crosets in the summer as a base for exploring, hiking and generally recharging our batteries. The chalet was lovely, warm and comfortable with beautiful mountain views and well-positioned for sight-seeing. The cable cars and chairlifts are only a few metres away and these lead up to a network of walking paths and lifts that take you into France.
A must-see on the French side of the mountains is Les Lindarets, the goat village, a quirky delight with a wide selection of restaurants. We enjoyed lunches at Le Chaudron and La Ferme des Lindarets.
A visit to the elegant Château d'Aigle, producer of Swiss wines, was a nice experience with its rolling vineyards, castle and a well-presented wine museum. Its drawers full of cartoons, prints and wine label designs are an interesting inclusion, as is the film about the wine festival in Vevey. Another enjoyable visit was to the Fondation Pierre Gianadda in Martigny with its art gallery showing temporary exhibitions, museum and sculpture park. There are many lovely towns to visit around Lake Geneva and it was really worthwhile putting a full day aside to visit the amazing Charlie Chaplin Museum in Vevey, a fascinating and well put together tribute to the artist’s personal and working life.
The apartment is super for a family.
The apartment is perfect located - close to everything in the village, and you only have to cross the road and click on the skies before enjoying the huge area of great skiing. The skiing is really good and has challenges for everyone. The restaurants in the mountains are great, both in France and in Switzerland.
We were only 3, but could easily have been 4 or 5. There is everything you need, and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine enjoying the sun after skiing.
We highly recommend this lovely place.

Terrific summer time mountain biking in the mountains surrounding Les Crosets. Professional, friendly and experienced guides available to help negotiate the twists and turns of the tracks. An exciting and exhilarating family activity for those with good bike handling skills and a sense of fun and adventure. Wonderful mountain view restaurant to relax in and replenish the calories post cycle.

The view from the apartment is one of the highlights and the apartment itself is cosy and welcoming and everything was spotlessly clean.
We can't wait to come back!
We had the most amazing Christmas stay at the Swizz Mountain Escape in Les Croset - so memorable. Waking up on Christmas day and looking out at the beautiful Dents De Midi mountains was like a dream - we couldn't believe we were somewhere so amazing. The open plan living area felt spacious and we had more than enough space with 3 bedrooms for our family of four and everything was easy to use - the coffee machine is a welcome addition! On two nights we pre-ordered delicious meals that Jan, our host, prepared for us to simply heat up - we highly recommend the chili con carne! We also ordered a Welcome Basket on arrival which was great, as are the fresh croissants that we had delivered every morning!
Skiing here is fantastic. Our kids are mixed ability skiers and whilst our son was happy to potter up and down the beginners slope outside the chalet, our daughter was up skiing across to France! We stayed in quite a few places in Portes Du Soleil but this is now a firm favourite as you have such easy access to the most amazing skiing area but Les Crosets is such a lovely quiet resort, perfect for a family.
We'd also recommend taking the train from Geneva airport - it was great fun and a couple of simple changes made us feel like we were on a real adventure!

The apartment is in a fabulous location, just across the road from the slopes and some shops, with amazing views - really couldn't be better.
I have stayed twice in this apartment: once as a family and once on a ladies ski trip and have enjoyed both holidays immensely. Everything you need is in the apartment, with a wonderful hostess on hand to help you with great advice on restaurants both on and off the slopes, and on the whole ski area, as well as excellent catering.
The ski area is amazing, with lots of variety, so something to suit every level.
Magnificent Walking Weekend in Les Crosets
A few walking friends and I were looking around for a great place to stay for a girls' walking weekend. Jan's chalet apartment in Les Crosets in the extensive Portes du Soleil was highly recommended. We were not disappointed for one moment. Jan is the most amazingly considerate host, a true shining star! As we were due to arrive late, she offered to organise our weekend shopping and also made an incredibly delicious supper, that was left warming in the oven for our arrival. Jan is also a seriously keen walker and skier, so she knows the area like the back of her hand. She planned two wonderful days of walking, including coffee stops and lunches in charming mountain restaurants. In fact, she volunteered to be our tour guide on one of the days. What fun we all had together!
The property is well appointed and well laid out and looks out onto the magnificent Dents des Midi, a truly stunning view. Les Crosets is easy to get to from Geneva, is quiet and pretty, in totally unspoilt surroundings. It has a lift, a few shops and restaurants, so you can happily park the car and not use it for the rest of the stay.
On our return journey Jan suggested we make a coffee stop in the quaint alpine town of Champéry. Don't be fooled by the description 'quaint' - we ended up in the chicest boutique and most of us came out clutching a carrier bag or two.
I would recommend this lovely apartment and village to anyone. In fact, we have already booked up to go skiing there early next year. Can't wait!
We can't wait to get back to Swiss Mountain Escape this winter!
The Swiss Mountain Escape ski-in / ski-out apartment in adorable Les Crosets is the perfect place to have a ski holiday, with access to the entire Port du Soleil ski region just outside the door. The cozy and comfortable 3 bedroom apartment has amazing views of the mountain and is perfect for families or a group of friends (as I have stayed there with both!). The hostess makes you feel right at home and provides every bit of information you need on the ski slopes, the mountain restaurants, and the village, plus we loved her catering - absolutely delicious.

Great location with amazing view of the mountains!
Second time we are renting the apart of Jan with our 3 children. What we enjoyed the most in the place is … everything: great view, very cosy apartment equipped with all you need, parking indoors, including a heating room for boots and ski. To start your ski day (and to end it too!), you unfortunately need to cross the road in front of the residence - almost 6 meters - before putting your skis on and start skiing ! What can we expect more?
Ski-in / Ski-out in Portes du Soleil!
Amazing week of holidays in Les Crosets, ski resort well connected to Avoriaz and to all other Portes du Soleil ski resorts. We particularly enjoyed ski-in/ski-out possibility offered by the residence. The owner of the apartment, Jan, was keen to provide advice on places to eat when on pistes and all other tips from Portes du Soleil. We really enjoyed it and will definitely come back in same place.
The Best feature of all was Jan`s Catering...
We had a wonderful week at Swiss Mountain Escape with my family (two adults and two teenagers). The apartment is spacious, beautiful, very well equipped and has an excellent location next to the slopes in the center of the village. The garage and the washer and dryer add extra comfort for the family. The apartment also has a vast library of movies and tv series. Jan is a wonderful host with great knowledge about the area. The best feature of all was Jan's catering! Because of Covid restrictions the restaurants were closed, we ended up ordering most of our dinners from Jan, and were very happy about that. Even if the grocery store and restaurants are close by you can't beat the convenience and comfort of getting a delicious and beautifully served dinner right in the apartment when you get back from a day outdoors.
